About

The Mobile Airport Authority Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization created by the Mobile Airport Authority that focuses on elevating specific charitable, educational, and scientific initiatives at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley and Regional campuses, as well as the immediate surrounding community.

Answering the question of why, we will operate under and pursue causes that typify "for all the right reasons." Our key initiatives for 2014/2015 will be:

AeroFest

Doyle Park Renovation

Once part of Brookley Airfield, Doyle Park is located adjacent to runway 14/32 and was once the focal point of the community to experience man's fascination with flight. Today, it serves a distressed community and three schools which average over 90% free and reduced lunches. We believe the park represents an aspirational springboard between the youth of that community and the opportunity the aerospace sector represents.

Veterans Memorial Reflection Garden

Situated between 5th and 6th Streets and facing Broad Street are two beautiful mature oak trees that will serve as a gateway to a sanctuary that will honor the past and recent service and sacrifices of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and the Coast Guard.

The Brookley Museum

Our mission will be to collect, preserve, and display significant artifacts from the rich history of Brookley Air Force Base and to provide a setting where visitors can learn more about the mission and function of the base and its role in our nation's defense, its aircraft, and the significant contribution to the community.

Alabama Aerospace Innovation & Research Center

Our mission is to foster substantive initiatives to increase the competitiveness of our growing aerospace and advanced manufacturing cluster at the Aeroplex.

AeroFest

A unique event that will be held at the Aeroplex designed to bring awareness and support to A HERO Foundation (America's Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors).

5K and the Fun Run

On November 22nd, The Mobile Airport Authority Foundation proudly presents the 1st Annual “5K on the Runway.” The fun family-friendly races will include runway lighting and a post-race party on the green with food, refreshments and live music. All net proceeds from the race will go to the Friends of Doyle Park Fund to help the redevelopment of one of our neglected community assets; a property that was once a vibrant part of Brookley Air Force Base and the Dauphin Island Parkway Community.
